Curiosities:
Until the end of the 16th century, salmon was the most important fish to catch, but nowadays, since the availability of salmon has decreased, it is mainly whitefish that is caught. There are also some fishing sheds that are built next to the rapids, in which the fishermen store their equipment. Today, six of these sheds remain, all of varying ages. In addition, offices, an ice cellar, and a shed for storing whitefish, etc. There are two mills in the area, the lower one built around 1840 and the upper one from the 1850s.
Feel the rhythm of the current and learn how to find the deeper pools where the whitefish rest on their journey upstream in River Torne. This is your chance to catch your own dinner using a traditional fishing method.
An experienced guide will join you and show you how to balance the six-metre dip net handle. Once you feel confident with the technique, you will continue dip net fishing independently. Life jackets are provided by us.
