If you want to be a Tornedalian for a little while

Every Thursday 18/6-7/8 we have Take your towel and come to Sauna in our Sauna area at 15-18.

Come to us and experience something typically Tornedalian, namely a long and wonderful sauna bath. Book your accommodation in connection with our sauna days to take the chance to become a Tornedalian for a little while. We usually have representatives from the Swedish Sauna Academy who talk about the role and importance of the sauna in our cultural heritage.

Bring your friends and come and have a sauna or two, we recommend tryíng all of them! You can enjoy Sweden’s largest smoke sauna RÖK, VIP sauna, Village sauna BYA, greenhouse sauna and traditional family sauna. In addition, you can sit in the hot tub while admiring the magnificent rapids or take a refreshing dip at Kukkola beach. And remember to bring your towel! Drinks and light meals are available on site. Make sure to book a table in our restaurant after your sauna bath for an extra lovely end to the evening.

The sauna is a world heritage
Did you know that the sauna culture has been added to UNESCO’s list of intangible cultural heritage of humanity? In the Torne Valley, we share the Finnish sauna culture and have embraced the tradition of sauna bathing as both an inner and outer cleansing. In a press release announcing the addition, UNESCO wrote about the importance of saunas in Finnish culture. “Traditionally, the sauna has been considered a sacred space – a ‘church of nature’. At the heart of the experience is löyly, the spirit or vapour released when water is poured onto a pile of heated stones,” the UN agency said in a statement.
