Getting married is one of life’s greatest events, and naturally, the wedding should be one of the biggest celebrations of your life. Here at Kukkola, we have been organising wedding celebrations of all kinds for many years: from simple, old-fashioned country weddings to elegant black-tie dinners.
Every wedding is unique, which is why we take plenty of time to go through your ideas and wishes for the celebration together with the hosts. With our long experience of wedding celebrations, we can offer advice not only on the reception itself but also on planning the entire wedding day.
A few months before the wedding, once the date has been set, you’ll come to Kukkolaforsen for lunch or coffee with Johannah or Margit. In a relaxed atmosphere, we’ll discuss the entire wedding, look at the venues and possible menus, and make provisional bookings for accommodation and any sauna facilities.
Six weeks before the wedding, we finalise the programme and menu, as well as the approximate number of guests attending the dinner.
To illustrate the range of activities available in connection with a wedding, we present below an example of a wedding programme spanning three days:
The day before the wedding:
The wedding guests begin to arrive. In the afternoon, there is an opportunity for a boat trip and a guided tour of the cultural sites by the rapids. The more adventurous can try white-water rafting, and the evening concludes in our VIP sauna with dinner in the communal lounge and a visit to various saunas.
The wedding day:
The bride and groom get ready and have their photographs taken during the morning at the rapids or in one of the buildings by the rapids. Guests go on excursions in the area and visit the fishing museum. The wedding ceremony takes place in the afternoon at the rapids or in one of the nearby churches. Guests toast the bride and groom in or near the restaurant, followed by the customary dinner and dancing.
The day after the wedding:
Breakfast and present-opening in the VIP sauna lounge, or in the restaurant. A relaxing morning sauna for those who’ve got a taste for it and for those who didn’t get a chance to try it before the wedding.

The dinner: When you book your wedding reception with us, you can choose between a buffet dinner or a plated meal, all prepared in our kitchen.
You can, of course, create your own menu, but here are some examples of popular menus.
Kukkolabuffet:

Price: 595 SEK per person, children aged 6–12: 150 SEK
Lapland buffet:
Two types of herring, green salad, potato salad, whitefish salad, gravad whitefish, smoked whitefish in chunks, gravad salmon, hot-smoked salmon, reindeer salad with coffee cheese, smoked lamb fillet, fried vendace, egg halves with roe, butter, home-baked bread.
Main course: Reindeer mince with mashed potatoes, fresh lingonberries.

Practical information:
The restaurant can seat up to 180 guests without compromising on comfort. The absolute maximum is around 250 people, but space is limited in that case.
We have approximately 100 beds available. One Junior Suite with a fireplace, ideal for the wedding night. The hotel has 16 double rooms, 13 self-catering apartments with 4 beds, and 8 self-catering cottages with 2 beds.
